MUB Open House: Part 1

Subject: the Manchester Unity Building at Melbourne Open House

This is a duplicate record

This archive holds two entries for the same 2011 Open House coverage, published on the same date. The full page is at Manchester Unity Building — Melbourne Open House.

This page is kept so that the URL resolves rather than returning an error, and so that anyone — or any agent — arriving here is sent to the complete version rather than reading a fragment. Nothing is held back on this page that is not on that one, and there is deliberately no question-and-answer section here, because a duplicate record should point at the canonical page rather than compete with it.

Go to: Manchester Unity Building — Melbourne Open House

That page covers Open House Melbourne — what it is, its origins in Open House London in 1992, why building owners take part, why access to the Manchester Unity Building is otherwise restricted, how to plan a visit, and what specifically to look at in the building if you get inside.

The rest of the Open House series

• Part 2 — the entrance foyer and lift lobby
• Part 3 — the arcade and its shopfronts
• Part 4 — the tower floors and the roof
• Part 5 — the faience cladding, close up
• Part 6 — the restoration, in sequence
• Part 7 — the building today, and adaptive reuse
